KyMobilePet Grooming: Standing Up Against Racism in Unexpected Places

Then she doubles down!😩
Random message who agrees?
For calling out misinformation and racism I am somehow the bad guy?

By KyMobilePet

This week, I had an unexpected encounter while participating in what should have been a normal conversation on a community forum. An individual made blatantly racist remarks, suggesting that criminal acts could somehow be tied to race. This level of ignorance and hatred floored me. I knew I had to speak up.

The comment read, “Is it common among certain races?”—implying that crime or violence is related to skin color. This is the kind of rhetoric that divides us and perpetuates harmful stereotypes. I quickly responded, calling out the racism head-on: “Your comment is really racist! It’s not due to the color of people’s skin… shame on you.”

Sometimes, it’s not easy to confront people, especially on public platforms. But in moments like this, silence is compliance, and I couldn’t allow this kind of hatred to go unchecked. And guess what? I wasn’t alone in standing up. A kind stranger privately messaged me saying, “Glad ya told that woman she was making racist remarks!”

It’s these small acts of solidarity that show us we’re not fighting this battle alone. Change happens when we speak up—whether it’s in person or online. As a pet groomer who believes in creating a safe space for everyone, I want my community, both virtual and real, to reflect the values of respect and equality.

So here’s an inspirational message I hold close: “The world changes by your example, not your opinion.” When we confront ignorance and injustice, we’re not only standing up for ourselves but for those who are too often marginalized. In a world where I care for animals with love and patience, I believe we owe that same respect and dignity to every person, regardless of race or background.
